Solid information regarding financial terms of the deal or future opponents for Trinidad was hard to come by at the New York press conference, but Don King, Trinidad's promoter, and HBO executives were throwing around some big names: Roy Jones, Oscar De la Hoya, Fernando Vargas, William Joppy and Bernard Hopkins were mentioned as possible Trinidad foes. When questioned about who he wanted to fight, Trinidad expressed confidence but provided little insight. "I don't know the order of my next fights but I'm prepared for anybody. Nobody can stop me. You can write that," said Trinidad. King made some bold statements on Trinidad's behalf, saying "we challenge every boxer on the planet to meet us on HBO... we have no apprehension or fear about matching Trinidad with anyone." Felix Trinidad, 37-0 30 KO's, will join boxing superstars like Fernando Vargas, Oscar De La Hoya, Prince Naseem, Lenox Lewis, Roy Jones, Jr, who are on the same HBO roster. Felix Trinidad will make the first defense of his WBA super welterweight title against top-ranked, but little known Mamadou Thiam (34-1 30 KO's) of France on July 22 at the American Airlines arena in Miami, Florida Trinidad's last fight was a unanimous decision over David Reid for the World Boxing Association Super Welterweight Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada on March 3rd.
