In the background a group of "pleneros" were playing "plena" that praised Trinidad to his delight.

Later on that day, he rode away in a black limousine waving and greeting his fans down Graham Street, where a Three Kings Day parade was to be held.  At the parade, Trinidad shook hands with his fans and spoke briefly about his pride for his homeland.  On stage he played bongos and danced to the beat of "plena" and salsa music. He even sang along with a band who wrote a Spanish song, about the great champion, Trinidad.  After he gave out some gifts to the children of the community, Trinidad reluctantly left with his father and comrades to an awaiting flight back to Puerto Rico.

This great event was organized by Radames Millan owner San Herman Records who also held a toy drive for the children in the community.

In Latin America, January 6th is referred to as Three Kings Day.  A celebrated holiday equivalent to Christmas for many in Latin American countries where the Three Kings bring gifts for kids. Unlike the customs of the United States where Santa Claus is the one bringing presents for children and rides through the sky in a sleigh pulled by reindeers, in Latin America the Three Kings come on camels, elephants and horses to bring gifts to children. The night before, children leave hay by their bedside as a treat to the animals and they anxiously await the next morning to see toys and gifts underneath and beside their beds.

In the religious point of view, it is the day that the Three King reveal the birth of Jesus to all the nations.  On the sixth of January, the Three Kings came to present gifts to Baby Jesus and recognize the poor kid as the messiah. The Three Kings represent everyone coming to honor and adore Jesus.

Before leaving to the parade, Felix Trinidad had these pleasant words to say to everyone and the viewers of Latino Legends in Sports (Latinosportslegends.com). "I wish everyone good health, God bless everyone and a have Happy New Year".  (Click here for this page in Spanish).
