Oscar De La Hoya releases new music CD.

October 8, 2000 -- Former boxing champion, Oscar De La Hoya is putting down his gloves for the moment and taking on a new venture -- singing.

Even though -- this is his first album -- De La Hoya has been singing since the age of seven when he and his beloved mother, Cecilia use to sing Spanish songs together every day. "Since I was a little boy I have always wanted to record an album. I used to listen to my mother sing around the house, every hour of the day, listening to her singing ballads. We would then sing together around the house with her everyday. We would sing Spanish songs, especially those by her favorite singer Juan Gabriel.”

Now the boxer/artist Oscar De La Hoya has released his first album (to be released on Tuesday, October 10th) on EMI Records with a compilation of 13 English and Spanish songs. Listen to a clip of "Ven A Mi" at our Multimedia Gallery.
