July 8, 2000 -- The legendary Roberto Clemente, whose plaque hangs proudly at the National Baseball Hall of Fame Museum, will undergo a slight change to its name. It seems that Roberto Clemente's original birth certificate was found and his name is actually "Roberto Clemente Walker". At the Baseball Hall of Fame and in many other writings his name is written as "Roberto Walker Clemente". Changes to the plaque at the Baseball Hall of Fame will be made to ensure accuracy. Puerto Rican native, Roberto Clemente was one of baseball's greatest players when he was tragically killed in a plane crash as he attempted to deliver aid to earthquake-ravaged Nicaragua on December 31, 1972. Clemente was automatically inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame and hold the distinction of being the first Hispanic to ever be inducted.
