April 17, 2008 -- Latino slugger of the New York Yankees, Alex Rodriguez hit his 522nd career home run against the Boston Red Sox last night to surpass Willie McCovey and Ted Williams for 15th place on the all-time home run list.

The historical home run came in the first inning against Boston starter Clay Buchholz.  A-Rod took a 91-mph fastball deep into left field for career home run #522. Yankees outlasted the Boston Red Sox 15-9 Wednesday night.

"It's pretty humbling," Rodriguez said of his achievement. "I know that I tied Williams and McCovey. It's very humbling. I'm very flattered by that."

Next on the list for A-Rod are hall of famers, Jimmie Foxx (534) and Mickey Mantle (536).
