The game which takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston on February 19th is not only a first for Gasol, but also for the NBA. It will mark the first time a Spaniard gets the call to be an All-Star. The 25-year-old former Barcelona player was named as a reserve whose starting line-up is made up of Kobe Bryant, Steve Nash, Tim Duncan, Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. "This is a dream come true and a real honor and a privilege for me," Gasol was quoted as saying in the Spanish media on Saturday. "I'm still in shock to be honest. The best players will be in this game and it's a massive recognition for me. It's the biggest thing you can achieve at a world level in basketball. Gasol leads the Grizzlies in scoring (19.7 ppg) and rebounding (9.0 rpg) and has dished out 4.3 assists per game. The 7-0 forward is averaging 22.4 points 10.0 rebounds in his last 10 outings. Gasol is shooting 48.5 percent from the floor. Gasol has collected 20 double-doubles this season and has been a force of the defensive end with 1.96 blocks a game. The Grizzlies (27-23) are currently tied with the New Orleans/Oklahoma City Hornets for third place in the Southwest Division. They are 13 games behind the division- leading San Antonio Spurs.
