Shane Mosley signs promotional deal with Oscar De La Hoya

August 1, 2005 -- After beating each other up for 24 rounds in the ring, former world champions, Shane Mosley and Oscar De La Hoya have teamed up in a promotional partnership.

Mosley became the second De La Hoya conqueror to forge a promotional partnership with the former six-division champion in eight months. De La Hoya announced at a press conference Saturday afternoon that he has named Mosley president of fighter relations for Golden Boy Promotions. Mosley's responsibilities will include scouting and developing boxing talent in the United States, in addition to advising the current Golden Boy roster of fighters.

"Oscar and I have had our wars in the ring, but outside of it we've always been friends with a mutual respect for each other," said Mosley, who recorded two decision defeats against De La Hoya (37-4, 29 KOs). "To have this opportunity to give back to the sport I love is an honor for me."

De La Hoya also announced Saturday that he has named Marco Antonio Barrera as president of Golden Boy Mexico. Barrera and Mosley are now equity partners in the Los Angeles-based promotional company De La Hoya launched in 2001. Hopkins became De La Hoya's partner when the Philadelphia fighter was named president of Golden Boy East in November, two months after he knocked out De La Hoya in the ninth round of their middleweight championship fight.

Barrera and Mosley, meanwhile, will headline an HBO Pay-Per-View event on Sept. 17 at the MGM Grand.
