A-Rod opens Mercedes-Benz dealership in Texas

July 21, 2005 -- New York Yankees' star third-baseman, Alex "A-Rod" Rodriguez is venturing outside of baseball by opening his own car dealership on Interstate 45 at Brittany Bay Boulevard in south Texas.

The Alex Rodriguez's Mercedes-Benz dealership is a 50,000-square-foot facility complete with a high-tech service area which sells new and pre-owned vehicles.

One customer service offering at the new dealership is free vehicle pick-up and delivery for all service appointments -- whether the vehicle owner is in Houston, Galveston or Austin.

Rodriguez, a New York-born ball player also known as A-Rod, says he chose to enter the dealership business with Mercedes-Benz because, as a perfectionist, he does not settle for less than the best.

Rodriguez is the majority owner of the new franchise along with an ownership group that has a history with successful Mercedes-Benz dealerships nationwide. The big-leaguer plans to become more involved with the dealership, which he says will be an important part of his professional future
