It's official! Tito Trinidad returns to boxing

March 2, 2004 -- At a press conference in New York, former 5-time world champion, Felix "Tito" Trinidad confirmed that he will return to boxing and plans to fight Shane Mosley this fall.

Trinidad was the center of attention at promoter's Don King, press conference announcing the upcoming heavyweight showdown on April 17th. Trinidad clearly stated that he intends to fight against Mosley if he gets by Winky Wright on March 13th in Las Vegas.

"I guarantee I will be working hard for the world of boxing and I will do well in my return," Trinidad said through a translator.

"You can expect to see me at my best. I will come back to win. No matter who I will fight I will win."

Should Wright beat Mosley, King is looking to Jones. King won the purse bid for Jones' rematch with Antonio Tarver for the WBC light heavyweight crown, an all-American showdown expected in May.

"Trinidad will fight Roy Jones," King proclaimed.

"If Mosley loses to Wright then Jones may be next. We want to fight Roy. He can get ready after he fights Tarver."

Trinidad, 31, is 41-1 with 34 knockouts. His only loss came September 29, 2001, when he was stopped in the 12th round by Bernard Hopkins for the undisputed middleweight crown.
