September 18, 2001 -- The Middleweight World Championship Series finale featuring Felix “Tito” Trinidad vs. Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins has been rescheduled for Saturday, September 29th at Madison Square Garden according to a joint announcement made by Madison Square Garden, Don King Productions and TVKO.

"We appreciate the efforts of Madison Square Garden, Don King Productions,  the city of New York, and all of our partners in enabling us to reschedule this event so quickly," said Mark Taffet, Senior Vice President of TVKO, the pay-per-view arm of HBO Sports. "We look forward to seeing these two great champions unify the world middleweight championship and provide an uplifting performance on September 29th."

The initial date of Sept. 15th was cancelled because of terrorist attacks which shocked the world and devastated the lives of many. Trinidad, who visited "Ground Zero" where the World Trade Center once stood said he was  glad that initial date was cancelled. "I'm glad that another date was chosen. I'm going to continue training hard and bring back another victory to Puerto Rico, said WBA middleweight champion, Tito Trinidad in NYC.

Securing the new date wasn't easy for Don King.  There was a problem with September 29th date because Madison Square Garden had scheduled World Championship Wrestling for the 26th-29th. But yesterday FILA, the governing organization which was holding the wrestling event decided to cancel.  Obviously, the safety of the athletes was a major reason for the cancellation.

Trinidad has been staying in NYC in a Manhattan hotel where he is training and staying in optimum condition. He originally had plans to fly back to Puerto Rico on the 16th, but changed his mind.

Trinidad vs. Hopkins: And Then There Was One! will be live on TVKO Pay-Per-View and will be available to over 46 million homes beginning at 9 p.m. EDT/6 p.m. PDT. Commercial establishments can contact KingVision for closed-circuit information while international broadcasters should contact DK International Sales, both at (954) 418-5800.
