October 7, 2001 -- WBC Jr. middleweight champion, Oscar De La Hoya tied the knot with sultry Latin pop singer Millie Corretjer of Puerto Rico in a secret wedding and ceremony.

The Puerto Rican beauty of 27 years old has been dating De La Hoya for the past year.

The secret wedding ceremony was held at "El Invernino" in San Juan and was only for close family and friends. No media or photographers were allowed. To ensure  privacy, De La Hoya and his wife were covered by a large sheet, according to a local Spanish newspaper.

Various friends came from far to participate in the intimate ceremony.  From early Friday morning, there was a lot of movement in the restaurant with lots of food coming in and out.

De La Hoya proposed to Corretjer in Puerto Rico, her native land, in front of her parents. In proposing, De La Hoya said he was "super nervioso" (super nervous) and the event took everyone by surprise.
